What you need to know

The hair is like a picture frame to our faces and introduces our first impression. In fact, according to American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) we all have at least 100,000 hair follicles on our head.

Experiencing hair shedding is a normal human process. According to AAD, we lose between 50 to 100 hairs per day. Further on, we will explain when you should seek a expert consultation.

The Hair Anatomy

The hair follicle is the root. It dermines everything about the growth of the hair. According to ADD we have around 5 million hair follicles in our body.

The hair follicle has some parts including:

The papilla contains all the blood vessels. It will deliver the supply of blood and nutrients for hair growth.

The bulb is the parte where the hair cells divide.

The hair shaft is the part of hair that you see. It’s made of hard keratine protein that is also vital for the growth.

The hair growth cicle

This is why is it so easy for some people to grow their hair and so hard for others. This cicle has three parts. The first is known as anagen phase.

Hairs grow approximately 1 cm per month. This phase will last between 2-7 years. People with long hair takes a longer time in this phase than those with short hair. A healthy lifestyle and proper care leads to a better hair growth.

The second phase is known as Telogen. In this phase hair is resting for approximately three weeks. Then it continues with the Exogen phase. Then old hair begins to fall off.
