Human hair typically grows 0.5 inches each month and is the second fastest growing tissue in the body after bone marrow.

That said, let’s explore seven extreme hair world records.

1. Women with longest hair

Xie Qiuping, hair measures 18 feets / 5 inches long. The women from China has been growing her hair since 1973 and obtained Guinness World Record of Female with Longest Hair in May 2004 (31 years later).

2. Longest hair on a teenager

Nilanshi Patel, hair measures 5 feet / 7 inches long. The Indian teenager has been growing her hair since 6 years old and obtained Guinness World Record of Longest hair on a Teenager in 2018 (16 years old).

3. World tallest Mohawk

Kazuhiro Watanabe, mohawk measured 4 feet long. The japanese man obtained Guinness World Record of Tallest Mohawk in April 2014.

4. Highest hairstyle

This hairstyle measured 8 feet long and was made of human and synthetic hair. The hairpiece took two days to be made for a KLIPP event (Austria) and obtained the Guinness World Record for highest hairstyle in June 2009.

5. Female with largest Afro

Aevin Dugas, afro measures 8.7 inches long and 4 feet 10 inches total circumference. This American obtained Guinness World Record of Female with largest afro initially  in March 2012 and again in February 2020.

6. Men with largest Afro

Tyler Wright obtained Guinness World Record of Male with Largest afro in June 2015. This American teenager (12 years old) afro measured 10 inches tall and 5 feet 10 inches total circumference.

7. Wildest Wig

The wig worn by Drew Barrymore in The Tonight Show measured 7 feet 4 inches wide by 5 feet 3 inches tall. The hairpiece made by Kelly Hanson & Randy Carfagno Productions obtained Guinness World Record of Wildest Wig in January 2017.
